The Community Market is an outreach program of the Food Bank of East Alabama.
If you’re struggling to put food on the table, you’re not alone—and you’re not without support. The Community Market is here to provide nutritious groceries in a welcoming atmosphere.
How to Get Started:
The first step is to make an appointment by calling 334-749-8844 between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., Monday through Friday.
A time will be set for you to visit the Community Market.
What to Expect
On your first visit, you will meet with one of our staff members or a volunteer for a brief interview. During this interview, you will be asked to provide the following information:
- Names and birthdates for each household member
- Income for each family member
- A photo ID and proof of residency in Lee County (such as a utility bill)
Once the interview is completed, you will shop for groceries just like at a regular store, choosing the items that work best for you and your family.
The food we have at any given time may change, but we try to have a good variety of canned goods, packaged food, bread, vegetables and fruit, meat and dairy.
