The Community Market is an outreach program of the Food Bank of East Alabama.
At the Community Market, we believe access to food is a basic human right.
As a direct service program of the Food Bank of East Alabama, we provide nutritious groceries to individuals and families facing food insecurity in Lee County – offering not just food, but dignity, compassion, and hope.
Whether you’re here to get help, give help, or simply learn more about hunger in our community, you’re in the right place. Together, we can ensure no one in Lee County goes hungry.
Need Food?
We’re here for you. Shopping is by appointment, and the experience is designed to be respectful, personal, and supportive.

Hear the stories of those we help
A mother with 8-year-old twins told us that while her children were young, they really love to eat!
She explained, “Being able to shop instead of being given a food box helps us to prepare foods that we like to consume.”
A young single mother was a regular client of the Community Market during the five years she attended college.
On her last visit to the Community Market, she said this would be her last time coming since she had been hired as a teacher.
A man was an owner-operator of an 18-wheeler, but when the motor went out, his income stopped.
After cutting all of their expenses, his family of five turned to the Community Market for food until they could get back on their feet.
One winter, a woman and her 18-year-old son moved to the area from Tennessee and were temporarily staying in their car.
They carefully selected non-perishable food to tide them over and a Community Market volunteer helped to arrange for a motel stay during very cold nights.
